Katoski and Green Scene
Katoski has added Yellow Bellworts, White Toothworts, a few Buttercups, and of course more Bluebells. At home the Prairie Trilliums are fully open, as are our Toothworts, Bellworts, and Jacob’s Ladder is almost there.
Green Scene has been active in Waterloo – Cedar Falls for 3 decades. Originally dedicated to planting more trees in public parks and along streets that had lost elms, it continues to encourage plantings everywhere. The major fundraiser is the sale of donated plants of all sorts this weekend.
I hit the woodland / shade plants to replace species hard hit by our local rabbits. Gradually I am finding what our rabbits do not care to eat.
Other years I have emphasized plants for the full sun areas of the yard. We have flowers visited by butterflies through the summer. Finding a place for Milkweed for the Monarchs while keeping the peace with the other gardener has been challenging. She is much more of a neatnik than I when it comes to gardens.
Connect with the Natural World. A Green Scene is a Blue Zone.
