Blue Zone Gwen
Granddaughter Gwen is here for nearly a week! She is 10 months old – just old enough to “make strange” until she is comfortable with someone she has not seen for a while. Women have a definite edge. Grammy was her friend by the time they got home from the handoff near the IA-MN border. Papa was “chopped liver” until the next day. But once she accepts you, she snuggles in and is delightful.
Gandchildren are a Blue Zone. Although I had forgotten how closely they need to be watched when left mobile on the floor. She is curious about everything. She “walks” her way around the coffee table exploring the items on it. She is much better at taking apart than reassembling. For speed she drops to her knees and zooms. She quickly mastered to 2 carpeted steps up and out of the family room.
Gwen clearly enjoys not competing with 3 1/2 year old brother RJ. RJ is vacationing in ND with his other grandparents.
Gwen has not figured out that her dog is not here. Mealtime results in major donations dropped on the floor for her dog, who is normally the constant attendant to the right of her highchair.
She will get a Shutterfly book of here adventures here. I had forgotten how much planning and effort go into “spontaneous” pictures.
Grammy has shown her off to friends and neighbors.
She is a joy to have here, but she is tiring us out. I know we managed 3 of our own, but wonder how. Perhaps we were younger then.
Carpe diem! Enjoy every day.
