Spring, Almost, is a Blue Zone
Most cities in North-East Iowa tied or set records for the most days with Below Zero temperatures this winter. We are really ready for spring! Even yardwork picking up fallen sticks and branches is a Blue Zone experience.
Not all of the ice and snow drifts are gone yet. But the male birds are on solar time, and they are singing up a storm as they stake their claim to enough territory to sustain a family this summer.
My staff is watching the Decorah, IA, eagle-cam which shows the first chick has hatched. This is smart pair of birds. They built their nest a short flight from the Iowa Trout Hatchery. This is their seventh year of easy fishing.
Connecting with the natural world is always a Blue Zone. Spring is “green things springing from the dead earth”. Enjoy.
