Blue Zone Whirlwind
A Blue Zone Whirlwind hit our house. Grammy Ann & Papa Jay barely survived. Grandson RJ stayed with us for a week. He is a 2 1/2 year old whirlwind, constantly busy, constantly wanting an adult to participate in his adventures. Constantly asking – why? why? why?
He “watched” Mary Poppins so he could dance like Bert (Dick van Dyke) in the chimney-sweeps on the rooftops scene, “play that again”. His volume control has only “louder” for a setting.
He spent hours at the Phelps’ Youth Pavillion at the Art Center, book readings at the library, orchestra petting zoo – percussion, swimming, visitng 2nd cousins, Thomas the Train outlet play center, building a snowman – then demolishing it.
If you are feeling old and tired having passed Medicare age, nothing makes you realize how old you are like a grandchild. And exhausted by the end of the day. How did we ever manage his mother and uncles?
But the emotional high of his young enthusiasm for all of life is catching. Family, love, and laughter, crossing generations, are all hallmarks of a true “Blue Zone”. He left yesterday. We miss him already.
