Put Congress on Medicare!
Less than 2 weeks before Medicare payments to all doctors were to be cut by 27%, Congress postponed the cut FOR ONLY 2 MONTHS! The House passed a full year fix, but the Senate insisted that we patch the system for only 2 months! Why?
As a patient soon to be on Medicare, I wonder where I will find a doctor willing to see me with payment scheduled to fall off a cliff in 2 months.
The Medicare payments that I receive as a doctor have to pay for my staff, rent, supplies, electric, heat, computer, and over $60,000 to install the new software required by “Obamacare”.
The fraction of total Medicare payment I get to keep and pay taxes on is far less than the 27% cut, now scheduled for March 1st. I will have to run Medicare patients through much faster, just to keep the office open. This offends me.
Congress offends us all when they claim to protect regular citizens, while Congress exempts themselves and their staffs from “Obamacare”. Congress will never have to go on Medicare. Their “Cadillac Plan” is exempt from the 40% extra tax my staff will pay to keep what they have now.
I will trust Congress when they themselves are on the same benefit package that they have forced on the rest of us. I will trust Congress when they stop playing games with patients on Medicare.
