First, my Aunt Henrietta Fell Really Hard when she tripped on a throw-rug. Next, her Bifocals tricked her coming in from the porch. Then, she slipped on the Ice that had All Melted Yesterday. Despite taking enough Adora Premium Chocolates Calcium and enough Vitamin D supplements, she added Fragility Fractures of both wrists and a shoulder to her prominant Kyphosis (hump-back) from multiple Vertebral Crunch Fractures.
Enough was enough. She decided to have no more fractures! She started the Anabolic, Forteo (Teriparatide). This is the one medication which primarily stimulates Osteoblast cells and will build new bone matrix. She said: “I guess I can do a shot every day.” But would it work? Unintentionally she put it to the test!
This is post #100! Next week completes the first year of this blog. It has grown. The site had over 1000 unique visitors last month. Not bad for someone who struggled in English Composition.
I have been able to add many new features. The latest additions are YouTube VIDEOS at the top of the right column.
Reader comments have helped to give direction. The Take Control Naturally series grew out of reader questions about what a person needs to do to improve bone health and possibly avoid medications.
What can I get for my Aunt Henrietta this Christmas? She already has all the things she can use. What could she possibly need? Like most men I am a terrible shopper.
I have it! She has osteoporosis, lactose intolerance, GERD, and intolerance of most calcium containing foods and supplements. I’ll get her a calcium supplement that she can tolerate! Even better, one that she actually likes to take.
My Aunt Henrietta Fell Really Hard tripping on a throw-rug. Her Bifocals made her trip coming in from the porch. She slipped on the Ice that had All Melted Yesterday. Despite taking enough Calcium and Vitamin D supplements, she had broken both wrists and a shoulder.
I had discussed adding an osteoporosis medication with her Endocrinologist. Because she also had shrunk by 4 inches and developed a humpback or kyphosis, she needed the Anabolic, Forteo (Teriparatide). She was ready to say: “I guess I can do a shot every day.”
